A Celebration of the Life of Betty White

The animal welfare world has lost one of our most supportive and endearing advocates, the incredible Betty White (January 17, 1922 – December 31, 2021). Famous for her legendary acting career, she is just as well known and loved in our world for her tireless support of the care and wellbeing of animals. Once dreaming of becoming a park ranger and later a zookeeper, Betty chose to use her celebrity status to call attention to animal welfare issues throughout her long and extraordinary life.

On January 17th, Betty would have celebrated her 100th Birthday. We believe nothing would make her happier than for animal welfare organizations to benefit from those who want to fondly remember her life devoted to taking care of animals.

Here at CCAS, we would like to honor Betty White in an extra special way. We are collecting donations now through January 22nd and these funds will be used directly to care for our very own “Golden Girls (and Guys)” that we so love here at our shelter.

As part of our mission, we save many senior dogs and cats that have lost their homes for various reasons, ending up in overcrowded shelters where they are often overlooked. We welcome them to our care and find them amazing forever homes, but undoubtedly, they come to us needing extensive medical care—dental work, senior bloodwork, thyroid tests, lump removals—all of which cost a lot of money.

Why do we do it? Because we value the lives of ALL animals, especially our “Golden Girls (and Guys)”! During the week of Betty’s birthday, we will celebrate her life well lived by featuring some of our Super Seniors and show you just how your donations are benefiting the animals of CCAS. Be sure to like and follow us on Facebook and Instagram to see our Golden updates! We believe Betty would appreciate this honor and we hope you will contribute. Stay tuned for a week of “Golden Girls (and Guys)”!
