On September 28th, the shelter endured the devastating impact of Hurricane Ian with 93 animals in our care at the shelter (and another 20 in foster care). Those who had risked their lives to protect those without a voice, we are forever grateful.

In the aftermath of the devastation, reality sets in. Like others, our shelter was without power and water. Unfortunately, our Veterinary Clinic lost thousands of dollars in vaccines needed for the shelter pets along with those pets in families we serve in the community.

Going through this difficult situation made us realize the importance of having a backup generator. We need to be sure the animals in our care are safe, and having this generator will ensure that they have what they need. The fear of not being able to run lifesaving medical equipment or refrigerating vital medications will be replaced with peace of mind that the animals at CCAS will never be at risk in the event of a power failure or storm.

A gift of any size will help us reach our goal and truly makes a difference. The addition of a generator to the shelter will change the way we care for our rescues and the injured pets that come into the shelter. Thank you all for helping us purchase this important piece of equipment!
